You Say You Want a Revolution . . .

2016-10-27 – We have a former member of Congress in Illinois by the name of Joe Walsh. I used to confuse him with the guitarist Joe Walsh who played for the Eagles and other bands. I like the guitar-Walsh. The former-Congressperson Walsh plays a different kind of axe.

His axe, apparently, is a musket. He claims that “If Trump loses, I’m grabbing by musket.” And he’s not the only one. As Donald Trump drives more and more people away from the Republican Party, the residue is talking “revolution” if they lose—forgetting that their loss will be due to popular repudiation of their candidate.

So, to keep this blog in the mixed world of rock-and-roll and politics, I’d like to give you the words of John Lennon only slightly modified. They have a lot to say to our world today. (Click on the title so you can listen to the Beatles as you read the modified lyrics.)

REVOLUTION

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We’d all love to change the world
You tell me that it’s [God’s creation]
Well, you know
We’d all love to change the world

But when you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out
Don’t you know it’s gonna be
All right, all right, all right

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We’d all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We’re doing what we can

But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don’t you know it’s gonna be
All right, all right, all right

You say you’ll [reclaim] the constitution
Well, you know
We’d all love to [reclaim] your head
You tell me it’s the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead

But if you go carrying pictures of chairman [Trump]
You ain’t going to make it [‘cause your just a grump]
Don’t you know it’s gonna be
All right, all right, all right
All right, all right, all right
All right, all right, all right
All right, all right
