#Pocalypso | Can’t Get Out of the House? At Least Get Out of Yourself?

2020-06-29 – Tired of being cooped up in the house? I’m kinda used to it. I’ve been working from home for six years. But even I am kinda tired of it. Yet, I don’t thing we’re even half way through this.

The pandemic is a yoke around our necks, weighing us down.

The problem is that the yoke is unbalanced. Yokes are designed to enable a person or animal to carry more weight than they would otherwise be able to do. They function by balancing the load.

Too often our load is unbalanced—worrying about how the pandemic will affect us, our families, and our friends. We’ve gotten too into ourselves.

The way to balance it is to reach out to others, to take on their load. I know it sounds paradoxical, but it will balance the load and make it easier to bear.

It isn’t going to be easy, of course. Lifting any load isn’t easy. And the pandemic only makes it more difficult. My main volunteer work is on hold because the clients aren’t coming in. But stick to it. There’s a lot you can do online. I just got a batch of postcards to write. Do something. Do some research. Find some way to help and do it.

If you can’t get out of the house, at least get out of yourself.
