2014-09-21 – The liberal blogosphere likes to pounce on every discharge of a firearm in the state of Florida to prove the stupidity of legalizing murder. And yes, it is stupid to legalize murder. But I’d like to look at the other side of the coin.

Every single day, millions of Floridians are NOT murdered.

These are not cases of poor aim. No one even pulled the trigger. And god knows that most of them deserve it! What’s up with that? Could it be that Thomas Hobbes was wrong? He believed that in the absence of laws, people would revert to a murderous state of nature. Could it be that our natural state is peaceful?

I’m not talking about everyone, of course. A few Floridians did fire their guns and people were killed. But millions didn’t, even though it is perfectly legal to do so.
