Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced late this afternoon that the Senate Republican Caucus is offering an alternative plan to break the stalemate over President Obama’s request for authority to conduct a limited attack on Syria.
“We are proposing,” said the minority leader from his prepared text, “to send Obamacare to the Syrian’s as protest of Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons in the Syrian civil war. It is our considered judgment that Obamacare will do more damage to the Syrian regime than any program of bombing that our air force could inflict.”
The statement continued:
“As replacement for Obamacare in the United States, the Congress will direct the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the air force to begin a campaign of bombing within the territory of the United States.”
At the conclusion of the announcement, Senator John McCain gave his musical rendition: “Oh, bomb, bomb, bomb—bomb, bomb Obama. Oh, bomb, bomb, bomb—bomb, bomb Obama. . . .”
