2020-06-15 – Good news in a season of bad news: the Supreme Court ruled today that Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act protects LGBT workers from job discrimination.
Title VII prohibits job discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. You’d think that LGBT employees would be covered. But the folks who are out to foment hatred won’t take our laws at face value. They will violate laws like this until they get caught and then they try to pick it apart, saying the law doesn’t apply to their situation.
It does.
The court apparently reasoned that, if you are okay with a women dating a man, but not okay with a man dating a man, that’s sex discrimination.
I would have reasoned differently. I would have said that, if a law says that discrimination is prohibited, it’s prohibited. It doesn’t have to list out every possible type of discrimination. Discrimination is discrimination. Period.
The court didn’t say that. But the result is the same.
What is it with people who burn to inflict pain on other?
