2017-05-04 – Okay. Last year’s news is trying to make us think about who’s at fault for Trump’s electoral victory. Hillary blames Comey and Putin. Comey says he’s not to blame (but is slightly nauseous at the thought). Putin is silent—presumably because Stephen Colbert has Trump sucking his cock.

I’m going to give this to you once. The final answer to why Hillary lost. I’m not going to say it again after this.

• Trump gained an aura of invincibility by beating 16 of the sorriest looking Republicans in the history of the nation.
• Many leftists thought Trump’s election could bring on the revolution.
• Many rightists thought Trump’s election could bring on the revolution.
• The abortion debate had antis fired up. But pro-choice voters? Meh.
• Mitch McConnell refused to hear the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.
• Sexism. Homophobia. Xenophobia.
• Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi. And don’t forget emails.
• Hillary didn’t reach out beyond the party.
• Evangelical Christians became paranoid and went off the deep end.
• The Obama recovery didn’t reach many working class and rural voters.
• Smugness of liberals toward working class and rural voters.
• Republican state legislatures passed voting restrictions that fell more heavily on Democratic voter than on Republican voters.
• Southern delegates to the original Constitutional Convention demanded and received disproportional representation in our government designed to protect slavery.
• Jill Stein.
• Julian Assange.
• Russian interference.
• No Democrat since Vietnam has ever made the case for the value of diplomacy over force in foreign affairs.
• Voters want someone to say “you’re fired.”
• So-called liberal comics thought the whole thing was funny so they gave Trump millions in free publicity.
• CNN and MSNBC thought Trump would sell ads so they gave Trump billions in free publicity.
• Hillary did nothing to counter this.
• Hillary is a bore.
• Health insurance rates went up (in some states) and Trump promised that everyone would be covered under his plan for less money.
• The Republican party ran a decade-long campaign to stir up hate against Hillary.
• Voting machine shenanigans in Michigan, Wisconsin, and other states.
• Alternative facts.
• Spite.
• And more.

Don’t forget. Hillary actually beat Trump in the popular vote. That means that, had any one of these factors gone differently, Hillary would be president. If they had all gone differently, the Republican party would be history.

But that didn’t happen.

You can advocate for one of these (or even for a reason not on the list), but NOT to the exclusion of the others. They all played a part.
