2015-12-03 – Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel supposedly once said:

You never let a serious crisis go to waste.

And everyone is doing it today. 14 people die in San Bernadino. Liberals bash conservatives. Conservatives bash liberals. Can’t waste this one! Even expressions of concern are up for debate. Let a conservative politician offer his “thoughts and prayers” and the liberal politicians are jumping down his throat—even as they offer their own “thoughts and prayers.”

We offer thoughts and prayers when faced with death. It doesn’t really mean anything. It’s like saying “gesundheit” when someone sneezes. We don’t usually debate when someone says “gesundheit.”

So I’m done for today. I’m not offering “thoughts and prayers.” I’m not offering a prescription to save the world. I’ll do that Sunday.
