2012-10-12 – Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God, The Lord is One – plus or minus three percentage points.
Public opinion polls are like quantum mechanics: uncertain. So last night I wanted to see if another principle of physics applied to the presidential election: the observer principle. The observer principle says that the measurement of an event depends on the observer.
I like watching the politicking that goes on at this time of year. I’m not as obsessive as I once was, but I don’t usually miss an event as momentous as a vice presidential debate. This time I thought, let’s see what happens if they hold the debate and I’m not watching.
So far so good. It doesn’t appear than any holes have opened in the time-space continuum, whatever that is.
(Okay. I have to be honest here. I was actually looking forward to the debate, but I couldn’t hold my head up. I fell asleep before it even started. So it was an unintended experiment.)
I haven’t had much of a chance yet this morning to check out what happened, but I do know one thing. Joe Biden has changed the dynamic of the campaign. Republican lies are no longer bullshit. They are malarkey.
It takes two to tango – plus or minus three.

I check for my cell phone and car key.
You laugh and your comments are snarky.
The oven is off.
I check, and you scoff,
But your words are a load of malarkey.
