March 19, 2026—I’ve always believed that global climate change wasn’t the only reason the nations of the earth should move toward renewable green energy.

There’s the reliability factor. Wind and sun are not going away. They can’t be boycotted. They may have their ups and downs (as in the rising and setting of the sun) but they always return. We know how to store their energy to smooth out the ups and downs.

And because they are available to everyone all the time, there’s no fighting over wind or sunshine—like there is over oil.

Preventing global climate change is just one of three reasons. You don’t need to “believe” in global climate change. You just need to prefer reliability and peace. (I’m not saying I don’t believe in global climate change. I do. I’m just saying that it is one of three important reasons to promote green energy.)

So, imagine my surprise when the most vocal opponent of green energy, President Donald Trump, launches a war that seems to be doing nothing except strengthening the case for green energy.

I’m sure he doesn’t look at it that way. But that is certainly what is happening.
