Where Have All The Weapons Gone?

March 5, 2026—I’ve been seeing stories indicating that our forces in the Persian Gulf might be running low on weapons soon.

I don’t want to get into whether this is true or not. What I do want to talk about is how this could even be a question.

The US military budget is ever so close to being a trillion dollars a year. Until now, we haven’t been in a significant war for several year. I guess that doesn’t stop us from shooting these things off here and there. But not enough to draw down our stockpiles. So our stockpiles must have grown and grown.

But now that we are using them, where have they gone?

I thought that we were spending the milk money (and the health money and the retirement money, etc.) so we would be ready if we ever got into a war.

Shouldn’t we have been ready many times over by now?

Now, maybe we are ready many times over. The critics may be misinformed or lying. Maybe we have nothing to worry about.

Or maybe this is a strategy to get us to spend even more money to create even more stockpiles that will turn out to be inadequate for their intended purpose.

Either way, we’re getting a bum deal.

When will we ever learn?

When will we ever learn?
